The largest supermarket chain in the United States, Walmart, filed a lawsuit against Tesla Energy Operations before the Supreme Court of the State of New York. The main reason is breach of contract and negligence.
For some years now, Tesla Energy Operations has been at the forefront of renewable energy, launching solar panels for sale to reduce the environmental impact on the planet.
However, when Walmart acquired them Chile Mobile Number List and installed them in its supermarket chain, they caught fire in seven of its stores, so it decided to take action:
« This is a breach of contract action arising from years of gross negligence, coupled with failure to meet industry standards regarding the solar panels that Tesla designed, installed, and agreed to operate on the roofs of hundreds of Walmart stores» , reads the lawsuit filed.
In 2012 and 2018, fires were reported in the distributor's stores. They occurred in Walmart stores in the towns of Beavercreek (Ohio), Denton (Maryland) and the Californian towns of Indio, Yuba City, Milpitas, Lakeside and Long Beach; although the American chain assures that there are more than 240 stores that have photovoltaic systems installed, operated and maintained by Tesla.
According to the multinational retail corporation, "by May 2018, it was clear that Tesla had breached its contractual obligations," noting that properly designed, installed, inspected and maintained solar systems "do not undergo spontaneous combustion, which is why the multiple fires that involving Tesla solar systems is just an unmistakable sign of negligence on its part.
The fire was the responsibility of Solarcity, a company that bought Tesla in June 2016, in a deal valued at $2.6 billion.
SolarCity was founded by Lyndon Reevee, cousin of Elon Musk, who was president and main shareholder of the largest solar panel installer in the United States, in addition to being founder and CEO of Tesla.
For its part, Walmart says that "when Tesla bought SolarCity to rescue the ailing company (whose executives included two of Musk's cousins), it did not correct the company's chaotic installation practices, nor adopt proper maintenance protocols." .
Elon Musk solar panels
Elon Musk is a clean energy visionary who has always taken various actions to save the planet.
In the last 10 years it showed its plan for this type of energy, and even presented a new home battery called Powerwall 2, whose cost is 5,500 dollars (119 thousand Mexican pesos).
"The goal is to have solar roofs that are better than conventional ones, that generate electricity for longer duration, provide better insulation and do so at a lower cost"
According to what Musk explained, solar panels convert solar energy into electricity. Solar energy is integrated with Tesla home batteries: they accumulate solar energy during the day and are used after sunset.
This is a short-term vision, since it is not only looking after the impact of the cars it normally manufactures, but also the impact of the inhabitants of its country.
After the lawsuit, it is necessary for Elon Musk to work more closely in his company, and verify that his products do not have serious consequences for his consumers.
Meanwhile, he will have to repair the damage he did to Walmart, since when this news is released, the firm's reputation is in doubt. Tesla needs to strengthen its practices, and especially the product used.
